Building "A Better Biofuel"

Technology Review is carrying a short article on Amyris Biotechnologies' plans for bacterial production of biofuels.  As I explored recently (see "Where should we look for biofuels?"), both technological and policy constraints suggest that in the long term we will be producing fuels via culture/fermentation systems feed by naturally occuring plants rather than by open field planting of genetically modified organisms.
